Job Description

Global Helium is seeking a Truck Driver to join our team located in Tampa, FL. The Helium Division distributes liquid and gaseous Helium for use in a variety of applications, including electronics, optical fibers, superconducting magnets (MRI/NMR), leak detection, and metal fabrication.

The Truck Driver I is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • ·         Operating a 33,000 VGW straight truck.
  • ·         Safely handling hazardous materials (liquid/gaseous helium and liquid nitrogen).
  • ·         Interacting with both colleagues and customers in a professional manner.
  • ·         Complying with all company policies including use of PPE, in-cab video technology, and HOS.
  • ·         Working shifts as per DOT guidelines, which may include possible layovers, evenings, weekends, call outs.
  • ·         Performing Pre/Post trip vehicle inspections, loading, unloading, and securing assets in accordance with DOT standards.
  • ·         Accurately completing all written and electronic documentation associated with driving duties.
  • ·         Planning and scheduling delivery routes in an efficient manner.
  • ·         Participating in monthly safety meetings and completing all required company training.
  • ·         Maintaining cleanliness and maintenance of company truck. Ensuring all in cab documentation is up to date.

Skills / Requirements

  • ·         High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • ·         2 years of verifiable commercial hazardous materials driving experience preferred, but willing to train a motivated individual.
  • ·         CDL Class A or B license with HazMat Endorsement a plus.
  • ·         Ability to pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen
  • ·         Ability to safely operate commercial vehicle transporting hazardous materials. Must be safety and environmentally conscious.
  • ·         Ability to follow direction and standard operating procedures.
  • ·         Ability to work safely around high-pressure gas, cryogenic liquid, and rotating equipment.
  • ·         Computer proficiency: Excel, Word, Email, Electronic Logs, handheld scanner.
  • ·         Strong communication skills: both verbal and written.
  • ·         Work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • ·         Strong decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • ·         Must be willing and able to travel (Up to 60%)
  • ·   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit or to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
