Stocking Site Technician/Driver (CDL A) 

Location: Durham, North Carolina. 

 

The Stocking Site Technician/Driver position will report to the Logistics and Inventory Manager and will mainly be responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, and scanning all returns of domestic and import shipments to RTP.  The key responsibility of this role will be functioning alongside shipping personnel and the Site Stocking Lead to execute departmental objectives to meet internal and external customer satisfaction requirements.  This dynamic role includes

HAZMAT driving responsibilities, when our lead driver is not available, in accordance with defined safety policies and procedures.  Driving activities represent 10-15% of the work load

Stocking Site Primary Responsibilities:(CDL A) (1st shift)

 

·         Performs all assigned shipping, receiving, and sorting tasks and is responsible for supporting shipping and receiving tasks including but not limited to inbound receipts, outbound shipments, and intermediate sorting of products.  Coordinate return shipments with customer service, procurement, and other Electronics facilities, as necessary.

·         Complete work assignments and daily work-flow schedules and make necessary adjustments based on capacity, priorities, anticipated delays, and available workforce, while making efforts to control overtime.

·         Shares responsibility with the Site Stocking Lead and other staff to manage the site storage plan for cylinder assets.

·         Support the interbranch truck hub for PDI Electronic Gases including five intrastate delivery route trucks and ensure the safety and security of any delivery drivers/teams in accordance with Linde policies.

·         Participate in monthly and bi-annual cylinder inventory counts.

·         Provides safe working environment for department personnel by following safe Linde rules i.e. proper strapping of pallets, proper nesting of cylinders, proper palletizing of cylinders and storing cylinders/tons/MCP's in their proper locations.

·         Ensures return scans are performed in a timely manner and any discrepancies addressed immediately to ascertain appropriate disposition.

·         Ensures all HAZMAT and DOT required documents are completed accurately and filed promptly and accurately.

·         Maintains working knowledge of international import/export regulations.

·         Sets and monitors goals for continual process improvements projects.

·         Various other duties and responsibilities as directed.

 

Driving Responsibilities:

 

·         Provide a high standard of customer service while delivering to customers, including but not limited to, unloading of products, movement to customer use points, reloading return empty/residual cylinders to the vehicle.

·         Compliance with Lytx Drive-Cam and Electronic driver log (PeopleNet) software.

·         Proper pre-trip/post-trip inspections and documentation.

·         Identifies need for repairs and/or maintenance to vehicles and is accountable for ensuring the repairs are accomplished with minimum disruption to operations.

 

Skills / Requirements

Qualifications:

 

·         High School Diploma or GED required.

·         Class A CDL, preferred, with HAZMAT and tanker endorsements.

·         5+ years driving experience, HAZMAT a plus.

·         Minimum of 5 years logistics, shipping, receiving, dock/office operations background preferred.

·         Multi-modal Hazardous Materials Shipment Certification (DOT, IATA, IMDG) preferred.

·         Proficiency with SAP, shipping software, Microsoft Office Products and Windows preferred.

·         Ability to read/interpret government and international regulations.

·         Must possess excellent leadership, problem solving, communication and organizational skills.

·         Ability to interpret and understand DOT and internal compliance policies and procedures and relate them to others.

·         Ability to manage conflict.

·         Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
