OVERVIEW:

NuCO2, the largest, best, and only national provider of beverage grade CO2 to the Foodservice and Hospitality Industry is a growth company. The Senior Manager will utilize safety principles to work directly with all areas of the organization with a primary focus on Field Operations. The leader will be relied on to drive positive behavioral changes of associates and the Management Team through safety methodologies, collaboration, and engagement. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s Safety, Compliance, and Quality policies, procedures, programs, and standards to support the company’s business objectives, and oversee, through subordinates, that employees have the required licensure, OSHA and DOT certifications and are following the set forth requirements and compliances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversight Responsibilities:

  • Safety, DOT compliance, and quality policies, procedures, programs and standards
  • Accident investigations including resolution of accident repairs
  • Safety, DOT compliance, and quality best practices
  • Corporate Safety Committee
  • Internal safety, DOT compliance, and quality audit program
  • Process safety program
  • Tier II reporting
  • FDA compliance program

Management Responsibilities:

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring all policies and procedures related to Safety, DOT compliance, FDA food safety program, and quality
  • Developing and implementing safety, DOT compliance, and quality training
  • Establishing District level safety plans and DOT compliance and quality metrics/KPI indicators
  • Establishing internal auditing procedures & practices
  • Providing management with timely information and reports
  • Meet and exceed budgetary expectations established
  • Proactive leadership of the corporate safety, compliance and quality committee
  • Perform all duties as the Safety, DOT compliance, and quality auditor
  • Coordinate the company’s relationship with insurance carriers and vendors that provide assistance with related Safety, DOT compliance, and quality training, material, systems, information
  • Work with managers on strategies that modify behaviors through associate engagement

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Partner with corporate and senior field managers and work with field management and employees in all matters related to Safety, DOT Compliance, and quality. This includes specific safety plans with each District Manager and reviewing with VP of Operations.
  • Interview, hire and train direct reports
  • Supervise direct reports by planning, assigning and directing work
  • Provide performance appraisals and reward and/or discipline direct reports, as required
  • Address direct report’s concerns, complaints and resolve concerns
  • Provide a safe, professional and positive work environment
  • Coordinate the investigation of accidents and injuries and assist in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Develop  safety program with high focus on changing associates behaviors
  • Continuously review and evaluate all safety, DOT compliance and quality policies and procedures to identify areas of improvement and make changes, as required, to ensure relevance, accuracy and completeness
  • With the assistance of management, develop safety, DOT compliance, and quality best practices and provide the information to the organization
  • Design a facilities audit program that will detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, outline corrective or preventative measures and follow up to ensure compliance
  • Administer the internal audit program to ensure that claims related losses are prevented and that the company’s standards of operation are being adhered to
  • Monitor safety, DPT compliance, and quality metrics/KPI reports, driver logs, violations and audits
  • Provide timely safety, DOT compliance, and quality reports and analyses to all levels of management to include key safety statistics to senior management
  • Compile and submit accident reports in a complete, accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain all safety, DOPT compliance, and quality files and records
  • Administer the driver safety training and DOT compliance training programs
  • Review and analyze related industry accidents and provide causes and potential hazards information/training reports to the organization in order to prevent similar incidents
  • Provide all required written and visual material to meet compliance requirements and to promote a robust safety environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience:

  • Four (4) years of experience working as a Safety Manager in a transportation/distribution company with revenues in excess of $200 million and a network of satellite terminals/depots
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety or related field or equivalent experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT and other governmental regulations related to safety and DOT compliance in the distribution/transportation industry
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing or monitoring a corporate-wide Safety & DOT compliance program with multiple field terminals/depots
  • Experience auditing safety & DOT compliance
  • Experience with accident investigations
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong background in use of personal computer software with an emphasis on Windows Office, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the Industrial Gases Industry or with a company transporting hazardous material
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting safety metrics and trend analysis and in developing corrective plans of action
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and other vendors related to safety & DOT compliance
  • Experience developing a safety program
